The National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) will be holding its annual convention on January 20, 2008, at the Embassy Suites in Concord, NC.  At the convention, the NMPA will be awarding its 2007 NMPA/Pocono Spirit Award.  This award has been presented since 1992 and serves to recognize character and achievement in the face of adversity as well as sportsmanship and contribution to motorsports.  Each year, four quarterly winners are selected with one overall NMPA/Pocono Spirit winner chosen by a vote of the NMPA at year end.

The four quarterly winners for 2007 were James Hylton, former NASCAR CEO Bill France Jr., manufacturer's representative Ray Cooper and Autoweek writer Al Pearce.
