Rain Causes Cancellation of Fontana Qualifying

Practice and Qualifying for the Auto Club 500 at Auto Club Speedway was cancelled by NASCAR officials due to rain and wet conditions at the track.  The field for the Auto Club 500 was set by the NASCAR rule book as follows: Top-35 in 2007 Owners Points, one 2007 race winner (Kurt Busch), two past champions (Dale Jarrett and Bill Elliot), three in the top 35 in 2008 owners points (Brian Vickers, David Reuitmann and Michael Waltrip) and two by 2008 race attempts (John Andretti and Joe Nemechek) . There were five drivers and teams that did  not make the race: #84-AJ Allmendinger/Red Bull Toyota, #49-KenSchrader/BAM Racing Dodge, #10-Scott Carpentier/Evernham Dodge, #27-Mike Skinner/Bill Davis Toyota and #08-Burney Lamar/EM Motorsports Dodge.
